Cortina Table, awarded the BIG SEE Product Design Award 2025

The Cortina dining table, a design signed by VOICU for Nord Arin, was honored with the BIG SEE Product Design Award 2025 in the Home and Living category. This international recognition confirms our commitment to sustainable contemporary design, which transforms space into a memorable aesthetic and functional experience.

Design concept

The Cortina concept starts from a simple yet powerful idea: capturing movement in materiality.

Wood, a material by definition static and rigid, transitions from the structural to the sculptural realm and participates in the composition of movement. Through carefully articulated geometry, the massiveness of wood is transformed into a fluid form and acquires an almost textile expressiveness, suggesting grace and dynamism.

The sculptural base of the table evokes the folds of a theater curtain, transforming it into a work of art that lives and evolves with the space it occupies. Thus, the object transcends its simple dining functionality, becoming an anchor piece that invites conversation and visual contemplation.

Reduced to its essence, the Cortina concept speaks of continuity and rhythm, of our lives in continuous movement and transformation.

The selection of materials that make up the Cortina dining table is the result of a careful approach that considers their natural evolution as an integral part of the product's aesthetic expression.

The Cortina table features noble essences such as solid oak wood, oak veneer and American walnut, natural stone and fused glass, all of sustainable origin. This selection of materials highlights the refinement and durability of the dining table and reiterates Nord Arin's promise of respect for the environment and resources – a necessary condition in contemporary furniture design.

Cortina. Present and future

Launched at Salone del Mobile Milano in 2023, the Cortina dining table has seen increasing popularity in the last two years, both in Western Europe and on the US market.

Following its launch, Cortina received a line extension and is currently available in multiple size and material configurations. The Cortina dining table can be ordered in Romania also in the round top version, ideal for intimate and compact spaces.

In September, at the BIFE-SIM exhibition, we presented, for the first time internationally, the Cortina dining table with a glass top and a Burl Poplar base, a rare wood appreciated for its fiber complexity, chromatic variations, and organic, spiral-like patterns.

In its latest configuration, Cortina becomes an expression of artisanal mastery and aesthetic coherence; an object that synthesizes Nord Arin's vision of contemporary solid wood design, defined by the balance between innovation, craftsmanship, and timelessness.

BIG SEE Product Design Award for Cortina design

Since 2018, the BIG SEE Awards have been recognizing outstanding projects in architecture, interior design, product design, and fashion design. The BIG SEE Product Design Award acknowledges innovation in product design, being granted to objects that change the way we perceive and interact with the world around us.

The jury, composed of international experts, evaluates submitted projects using a complex set of criteria. They score aesthetic coherence, ergonomics, material sustainability, as well as the degree of innovation, market relevance, and differentiation within the category.

In this evaluation framework, Cortina stands out with a balanced synthesis between the rigor of minimalist design, the timeless expression of form, and responsibility towards material and environment, demonstrating a profound understanding of the relationship between object, user, and space.

The BIG SEE Product Design Award confirms the relevance of the Cortina collection in the international furniture design landscape and brings a new wave of recognition for contemporary Romanian design.
